Alan Pearson and Lew Rice

Alan Pearson who was the Chairman of the RDH Board for many years until closure of the site in 2001, and Lew Rice, well known former employee of RDH and talented saxophone player have passed away. Lew Rice died on Friday, he was in charge of C Ward for many years and both men will be a big loss for the knowledge and social heritage of Willow Court and Royal Derwent Hospital. We send our condolences to the families.

Thank you very much for publishing above about Dad …BUT… he would be a bit upset that his name was spelt wrong, Lew not Lou, Max Whittaker played Sax not drums and Geoff Rice played drums not piano. Unfortunately I am a little like him, if things are going to be printed about people and places facts have to be correct.

    1. HI Ian, Thanks for the correction, the information was gathered from the Linc website and it was supplied to them from the Derwent Valley historic society. I will correct this and his spelling. My condolences to you and the family, your Dad was a respected man within the Derwent valley and at RDH.
