Dangerous “investigation”

The “Owners of Willow Court” allowed the following people to “investigate” the tunnel under Willow Court, according to these paranormal enthusiasts in their film below. As there are multiple owners in that area where the tunnel is, it was either the Derwent Valley Council or the Pearce’s who took on the legal safety of these people.

The video shows these people entering what is the old sewage tunnel and crawling through the root bound area. The logic of the height of the tunnel would help them to understand its use but they want people to “comment” on their discovery in the hope of keeping alive the idea that it was used for transport of patients from the Derwent River to the Hospital, under the township.

They appear to have not taken any precautions to indicate dangerous gas emissions or low oxygen levels nor any equipment that would normally be required by WH&S in respect of working in confined spaces.

All in all this is disturbingly dangerous and could leave the “permission givers” open to legal claims and vicarious liability.

In contrast the Associate Professor Heather Burke from Flinders University investigated the tunnel as a high level Archaeologist back in 2015 and supplied us with a podcast. Both her and her colleague used all the safety equipment and monitored for safe breathing levels of oxygen throughout the investigation.

  1. Get of your wagon and worry about the vandalism of what is left of the asylum. Now there’s a topic worth discussing. Old video and a meter in showing vines and the brick work hardly calls for a team of archaeologist. On private grounds. Unlesd you know something and have to hide it?? As for safety take a look at the damaged building’s surrounding the oval a accident and potential law suite waiting to happen. No fences, no sequrity some kid could potentially fall through the burnt out floors. Theres a real topic but you bury your head’s to that.
